Home Made Bird Feeders, Elvis & Flower Magic At Barty House

Our residents had a lovely time making fat balls for the birds, with everything setup on the big table in the lounge, with seeds, suet, and oats spread out ready to go. The residents carefully rolled the mixtures into balls with real care, chatting about the blackbirds and robins that would come pecking later. A few took their fat balls straight out to hang on the feeders, watching with satisfaction as the first visitors arrived before tea time in our lovely garden.

We had the lovely Keeley Turner pop in for one of her brilliant music sessions. She has this knack for picking songs that get everyone going, from old wartime favourites to upbeat chart hits from the 60s. Smiles were everywhere, and you could see how it lifted spirits, especially for those who dont say much these days. To top it off, we marked what would have been Elvis Presleys 91st birthday. We sat together learning about his early days, his time in the US Army, and how he shot to fame. Everyone had a go with the Elvis masks, picking their favourite tracks like Hound Dog or Suspicious Minds, which we played loud and proud.

We also put our artistic skills to the test for a flower arranging session. Ladies and gents alike picked their blooms, some going for bright tulips, others soft pastel freesias. They arranged them into proper displays, with greenery and all, to brighten up their rooms. It's these simple hands-on activities that make the days here feel full and connected.
