When asked what they would like, Barty residents responded by asking to have their very own kitchen to cook in. The Activities Team often have cookery sessions with the residents, as the residents like to write out old recipes that they routinely cooked for their families, and then they like to cook them for their friends at Barty.
Shirley especially loves a cookery session and she was very instrumental in acquiring the kitchen, because it was always problematic having to send the dishes off to the main kitchen once prepared to be cooked where the residents were not able to have access.
The brand new fitted kitchen is now in place in the dining area and is being used each week to the delight of the residents. Most recently they bake some wonderful cakes, which they then decorated beautifully before eating them!
Septembers programme is centered around baking with the MacMillian Coffee Morning on the 28th where there will be lots and lots of cake! Please all come along on the day and support us in our fundraising efforts.
