On Friday 20th July,  four residents and four members of staff set off in a minibus to Minster on the Isle of Sheppey.

Remarkably, in this heatwave, we managed to choose a day on which it appeared at all times as though rain was imminent!

Upon arrival, we took our walking legs and wheelchairs onto the promenade alongside the beach, where we admired the colourful beach huts. We spoke to a lovely chap who introduced his two enormous, black Newfoundland dogs and he told us the story of how one of them had recently rescued a little girl from the sea!

Afterwards, we all enjoyed a cup of tea and biscuits at the little café on the seafront, before making our way back to the minibus.

The rain held off until we were on our way back. We didn’t let it dampen our spirits, in fact we had a rousing sing-song, which lasted until we arrived back at Barty.

It was a wonderful trip, which magically was more than the sum of its parts! We’re all looking forward to many more trips out.
