We were blessed by the sunshine!
Our trip out to Kent Life – Heritage Farm Park found us awash with beautiful sunshine, we could not have picked a better day for our trip down memory lane.
Edie’s smile grew broader as she took in all the sights and smells of days gone by, when as a young girl her family set off to pick hops for their summer getaway each year. The little hop huts, and the open stove kitchen area and even Jude trying to stand on the hoppers stilts (without success) brought back many happy memories for Edie and David alike.
As for the outside bathroom hut with a water line drawn around the tub to conserve the water usage, we were astonished they were even able to get their bums wet never mind wash! How lucky we all are today with our power showers.
All the residents had the most marvellous time, especially when we all embarked on a trip on a trailer pulled up the hill by a farm tractor, it was a bumpy fun ride and not what we were expecting to do. All the animals were well fed by us, and then we stopped off at Dotty’s Cafe for a cream tea before heading back to Barty on the Oomph bus. Quite wonderful!
