What better way to kick off your day by cuddling up to a cockroach?
Tyler from ZooLab arrived at Barty with crates full of creepy crawlies for the residents and staff to meet, including millipedes, a hairy tarantula, a giant snail and a snake along with a fluffy bunny for good measure.
To our surprise instead of recoiling in horror the residents Barbara and Edie in particular could only comment on how beautiful they all were?
Tyler despite only being in the job for a mere two weeks, made the whole session great fun and most informative and educational. They say you are never too old to learn something new.
Who would have known that a cockroach:
• Has two brains, one in its head and you can guess where the other is situated.
• It can apparently live without its head for 3months, due to having two brains.
• They can also by all accounts be frozen in a freezer for three years and still come out alive, a neat trick!
• They will eat anything and as noted are very difficult to kill.
