Our very own Barty House home manager David Willis participated in the Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge at the weekend.

Dave and his wife Charlotte ran 25km, finishing in very respectable 18th and 19th places, out of over 250 participants! Together the intrepid couple raised over £1,000 for their chosen charity, the Heart of Kent Hospice (HOKH).

The hospice, which has been providing exceptional specialist care since 1991 for people in the Maidstone area who live with a terminal illness, is a cause that’s close to Dave’s heart, for both family and professional reasons. “HOKH is a wonderful organisation, and we at Barty House work very closely with their amazing staff every day. The hospice has also provided invaluable support to myself and my family,” he says.

It was a sunny Saturday morning in mid October when Dave and Charlotte set out on their run. Their route took them from Maidstone, up to Blue Bell Hill, over to Aylesford and back across to Mote Park.

Dave completed his run in three hours thirty minutes. “It may sound slow, but the terrain was very rough!” he jokes.

He adds: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated. Your generosity will really help make the difference.”
