Kelly has been at Barty for nearly 4 and a half years, and started working as a Care Assistant before her pin number came through and then continued working as a Registered Nurse at Barty.
Previously, Kelly worked as a Dental Nurse, and wanting more responsibility looked for another avenue and found care.
When speaking about working at Barty, Kelly said “I love the feel of the community in the home. You can feel the difference in here, to other care facilities I’ve been in, it’s the warmth and friendliness of the residents and the staff that just makes it so special.”
At Barty we sometimes have to deal with end of life care, and the close relationships with the hospice allowed Kelly to take part in the Bereavement course. She was able to step back and really understand the emotional impacts that being a nurse dealing with end of life care can go through. Kelly said “These particular times in the home can be incredibly emotional and difficult, but as a team we really lean on each other when we need that support. Because sometimes when it does get difficult and you need to step back, someone will always be there to step forward for you.”
There are so many activities that take place at Barty, and one day in particular stands out for Kelly. “It was definitely the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, we had an afternoon tea and you could hear the broadcast up and down the corridors – it was a really special day!”
Kelly is married with two children, aged 16 and 14. She has a a very close knit family, and enjoys swimming and walking her French bulldog.
Her perfect idea of relaxing would be take herself to the gym and enjoy some swimming with a sauna session!
